Travel Diary: Barcelona, España.

Cuando una ciudad se transforma en una obra de arte, en un destino aventurero, en un lugar con historia, un centro deportivo y un punto turístico es cuando sabemos que debemos conocer por qué podemos encontrar todo esto en un solo lugar. Visitar Barcelona, España fue una de las experiencias más diversas que hemos tenido. En un solo lugar pudimos encontrar muchas actividades y además una cultura completamente diferente al resto de España.

Barcelona es la capital de Cataluña y se encuentra en la costa mediterránea de la península ibérica. Playa, montaña, arte, vida nocturna, deporte y gastronomía. Si hay algo que no creas poder encontrar en Barcelona, esta ciudad lo tiene. Famosa por ser un punto turístico en verano para muchos europeos y reconocida por ser la ciudad de Gaudí. Durante seis días no logramos ver todo lo que ofrece esta ciudad; sin embargo, pudimos conocer mucho ella, motivándonos a volver. 

Barcelona es conocida como la ciudad de Gaudí. Antoni Guadí fue un arquitecto español representante del modernismo y especialista en reflejar la naturaleza en sus obras. Cuando recorres la ciudad puedes encontrar varios de sus proyectos. La Sagrada Familia es uno de ellos. Un proyecto comenzado en 1882 y que aún sigue en desarrollo de producción. Este es uno de los iconos de la ciudad. El Parc Güell es otra creación del artista, un espacio donde puedes disfrutar de diferentes estructuras que evocan a la naturaleza de una forma única. Además, puedes dar una visita por Casa Batlló.

Pero Gaudí no es el único que define la arquitectura de Barcelona. En el Barrio Gótico se puede observar el estilo gótico que invade sus callejones y a la famosa Catedral de Barcelona. Perderse por este espacio de la ciudad es transportarse en el tiempo y encontrar las tiendas más particulares y únicas de artesanía, productos locales, antigüedades y tiendas de segunda mano.

Sin embargo, Barcelona no solo es arte, también es un lugar ideal para relajarse. La Barceloneta es la playa más visitada durante el verano y ofrece vistas únicas y espacios para distraerse, bailar, comer o ejercitarse. Otro de los lugares donde puedes caminar y tomar un respiro es en la Ciudadella. Un parque mágico, lleno de jardines y con una fuente central que parece sacada de un cuento.

Para los amantes del deporte, el Barcelona Fútbol Club es un destino que no puedes perderte. La gira por el estadio y la historia del Club apasiona a los aficionados.

Aun queda mucho por recorrer en Barcelona y sé que pronto podré visitarla de nuevo. Definitivamente, es una ciudad llena de cultura, gastronomía y un estilo muy particular. Además, Barcelona se ha convertido en la primera ciudad del mundo que obtiene la certificación Biosphere, que reconoce la ciudad como un destino sostenible que gestiona la actividad turística de una forma responsable, incluyendo criterios de gestión sostenible, ambientales, culturales y socioeconómicos. Así que, si visitas Barcelona puedes alojarte en hoteles eco amigables, consumir productos locales de origen orgánico y ser un turista responsable respetando la cultura de Cataluña.

For six days we could not see everything that this city offers; however, we were able to know it a lot, motivating us to return.

Barcelona is known as the city of Gaudí. Antoni Guadí was a Spanish architect representative of modernism and a specialist in reflecting nature in his works. When you go around the city you can find several of their projects. The Holy Family Cathedral is one of them. A project started in 1882 and still in production. This is one of the icons of the city. Parc Güell is another creation of the artist, a space where you can enjoy different structures that evoke nature in a unique way. Also, you can visit Casa Batlló.

But Gaudí is not the only one who defines the architecture of Barcelona. In the Gothic Quarter you can see the Gothic style that invades its alleys and the famous Cathedral of Barcelona. Getting lost in this space of the city is like being transported in time and find the most unique shops of crafts, local products, antiques and second-hand stores.

However, Barcelona is not only art, it is also an ideal place to relax. Barceloneta is the most visited beach during the summer and offers unique views and spaces to be entertained, dance, eat or exercise. Another place where you can walk and take a breathe is in the Ciudadella Park. A magical park, full of gardens and with a central fountain that seems to be taken from a story.

For sports lovers, Barcelona Football Club is a destination that you can not miss. The tour of the stadium and the history of the Club fascinates the fans.

There is still a lot of stuff to see in Barcelona and I know that I will be able to visit it again soon. Definitely, it is a city full of culture, gastronomy and a very particular style. In addition, Barcelona has become the first city in the world to obtain the Biosphere certification, which recognizes the city as a sustainable destination that manages tourism in a responsible manner, including sustainable, environmental, cultural and socioeconomic management criteria. So, if you visit Barcelona you can stay in eco-friendly hotels, consume local products and with an organic origin and be a responsible tourist respecting the culture of Catalonia.
